Students share what they're learning during Grandparents Day, held each year at Gates.

Gates Elementary houses first through fourth grades. At Gates, students receive backpack tokens to record their accomplishments. Students can earn tokens for walking the track, being named a Music Star of the Month, competing in the Fitness Challenge, having perfect attendance and participating in the "Book It" programs.

The staff participates in Professional Learning Communities, which means they meet regularly to focus on identifying what students need to master at each grade, how they will determine if the material has been mastered and what will be done if skills have not been mastered.
