DTV NAMED STATION OF THE YEAR

Grand Rapids, MI

DTV Channel 19 was named Station of the Year at the Michigan Association of Broadcasters annual awards ceremony March 11 in Grand Rapids. The award is based on all facets of the student-operated TV station including newscasts, sports coverage, storytelling, talk shows, public service announcements and community service.

“It was a true team effort that really showcased all of our students and all of their talents,” said DTV Instructor Randy Scott. “It’s good to see everything coming together for this award, and it was good to see the students’ faces when they won.”

In addition to Station of the Year, DTV was named Best Newscast in the state for the third consecutive year.

“The students strive for this award every year but the best part is that they are constantly pushing the limits of what they can do,” Scott said. “Every year is a surprise. The DTV kids are always raising the bar for themselves and the program. It will be interesting to see what they’re going to do next.”

Individual awards went to:
Jessica Bredenstein, second place for public service announcement.
DTV Promotions Crew, second place in the station activities report.

Granger Stefanko, honorable mention for news feature.

Ethan Hall and Tony Campbell, second place for Sports Play by Play.
