June 30, 2026
Here is one more Chirp Sheet on the last official last day of the 2025-26 school year. Be sure to check out the summer challenges that are underway - including the Summer Read to a Million challenge as well as our new Get Outside Challenge, a DCS Wellness Committee initiative encouraging students and their families to spend 200 hours outside between July 1 and the beginning of the school year. To help students get their reading in, the DCS Summer Traveling Library Bus will also be out and about - the schedule is in today's Chirp Sheet. We also wrap up the year with some incredible student achievements that we just didn't want to miss sharing about. We will be back in mid to late July to share the most recent staff changes, school supply lists, August Open House and Registration dates and more information about the 2026-27 school year.

June 25, 2026
Our latest Chirp Sheet celebrates our staff! Find out who was named  Davison Educational FoundationTeacher of the Year and Support Person of the Year, who was selected to receive classroom mini grants and what bus drivers were among the first to receive "Cardee" awards.

Well, what a week it has been. Let's reflect on the awesome things happening at DCS in this week's Chirp Sheet. Don't forget that tomorrow is the Musicathon, the Hamilton staff bus trip and compost pickup and, hopefully, 80-degree weather. Have a great weekend!

May 12, 2026
Yes, it's only Tuesday but let's celebrate the day with a Chirp Sheet because we have lots of great things happening that we can't wait until Friday to share.

May 1, 2026
Warning: Do not start reading unless you have some time to spend as this week's Chirp Sheet has about as many stories as the amount of awards won by DTV this week (and, yes, that  ia a lot!). You can read more about it in today's edition as well as discover articles about the NHS induction Ceremony, Salmon in the Classroom, ESports and Instrumental Music wins, composting updates (and a chance to purchase compost!), Balloon Debates, Davison Early College accolades, after school bowling and tennis clubs, Alumni accomplishments and more!

Special Edition ABC Awards - May 1

April 24, 2026
There are so many positive things happening in the district - so many, in fact, that we didn't have enough time to fit everything in this week's edition of the Chirp Sheet! But you will find stories celebrating the successes of our art and health sciences students, an award-winning gymnast and elementary student from Siple Elementary and our SVL Scholars of the Year. And the accolades don't stop there - we also celebrate staff who have earned titles of SVL Teacher of the Year, GCI Distinguished Alumni and Science Fair Educator of the Year. We also welcome new lacrosse Coach Craig Schaepkens and share details about the DEF Teachers/Support Person of the Year. You can start reading here:

April 15, 2026 - Special Edition
It's almost show time and students will take the stage to perform Footloose - the 60th musical production put on by Davison High School students. Performances are at 7 p.m. tonight and tomorrow and 2 p.m. Saturday.

April 10, 2026
April showers may bring May flowers but this month is also the start of what Supt. Lobban has coined "the celebration season." And if you read this week's Chirp Sheet, you will understand that we have a lot to celebrate. Like Neurodiversity Week - be sure to look at our daily spirit days so you can participate along with us next week as we celebrate all the unique ways our brains work. And speaking of celebrations, you could almost hear the cheering all the way from Texas when our Powerlifting Teams got down to business and earned some national hardware. Meanwhile back at home, we had Middle School students participating and earning some serious awards at the Flint Regional Science Fair, our Dance Team was performing at the Detroit Pistons halftime show and DTV was picking up more awards for its wall at the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in Lansing. In addition our DHS Auto Technology program is preparing for its 11th annual Car Show and Student Competition and our DHS/DAE March Students of the Month have been selected. Read all about it in today's Chirp Sheet.

Even with the snow and cold days, water main break and frozen water lines during the past week and a half, there's still plenty of positive things happening at DCS.

January 23, 2026
It's too cold to go outside so grab a blanket and cuddle up to read the latest edition of the Chirp Sheet. Our feature story is about our very own Mr. Tony Woods, the saxophone-playing teacher at Davison High School who shares about being a foster parent to a son with severe needs. Find out how you can help the family in reaching their goal of raising $50,000 to match what an anonymous donor is offering in order for the family to build an addition to their house to better care for Nicholas and a wheelchair accessible van. This week's Chirp Sheet also includes stories about the DHS Auto Technology program, which is in the running for another national award, Kindergarten Registration information and a recap of the Battle of the Books season at Hahn Intermediate. We also share which DHS students are now EKG certified and who were named Students of the Month for December. In sports, we meet the two swimmers who qualified for state competition and meet new Varsity Softball coach Jason Titsworth. And you can learn more about the Actors Playhouse upcoming performance of The Wizard of Oz and watch some of the young actors who sang the national anthem at the Shrine Circus. Last but not least, we include a reminder to parents about the district's upcoming informational meeting on our gifted (Challenging Academic Potential) program next Tuesday, January 27.

January 16, 2026
Today, we share information about the Developmental Kindergarten program, a cool T-shirt fundraiser for the LINKS programs, where seniors can apply for local scholarships and the Students of the Month at Gates, Siple and Thomson elementary buildings and Davison High School.

There's sounds of the season  - preschoolers caroling at the Cardinal's Nest,
Mr. Woods on the sax and "conductor" Mr. Piger waving the baton as a guest.

Certifications for health students, intersession registration and CAP details at last,
Heck, we even have info on holiday mental health in our latest podcast!

So take a seat, grab a snack or a (non-alcoholic) drink,
And settle in for a good read by clicking on the link.

We've had our first significant snowfall of the season, the holiday season is in full swing and our calendars are quickly filling up as we celebrate our first Friday in December. And we have a lot to celebrate as you can see in today's Chirp Sheet. We have "famous artists" at Gates Elementary, an exceptional euphonium player who, although just a middle school student, has been accepted into the Michigan School Band and Orchestra All-State Honors Band, DMS Students of the Month and members of the Hahn Intermediate P2 Crew. We also hear from the DHS Debate Team as they wrap up their season, find out who is singing in the state Regional Honors Choir this weekend and learn who competed at the DECA District competition this week. You will also get the details on the upcoming high school book fair, meet the incredible student athletes who signed letters of intent at the Athletic Department's first signing ceremony of the school year and even talk a little turkey with students in Mrs. Van Every's class following the Thanksgiving holiday. (Full disclosure - our Thanksgiving themed articles - including which pom pon all-stars performed in the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Detroit and how Hahn and DMS students worked together to save the turkeys - was supposed to go out last week but didn't due to email technicalities.
