Attendance

Establishing a habit of daily attendance is more important than ever.

Being at school consistently helps students:

  • Stay on track academically. Regular attendance helps students keep up with classroom learning, assignments, and grades.
  • Build learning stamina. Being at school each day helps students build routines, stay focused, participate in class, and keep up with their learning.
  • Feel connected. Regular attendance helps students build strong relationships with friends, teachers, and other trusted adults at school.
  • Reduce stress. Missing school can make it harder to catch up on lessons, assignments, and classroom routines.
  • Build strong habits. Consistent attendance helps students develop routines that support success in school and beyond.

Every day really does matter. According to Attendance Works, a national organization focused on improving school attendance and reducing chronic absenteeism, missing just two days of school per month can add up to about 18 days over the course of a school year—enough to be considered chronically absent.

We also recognize that students get sick and that families sometimes face circumstances that make getting to school difficult. If your child is struggling with attendance, please contact your school’s main office. We are here to work with you.

We are committed to making our school community a safe, healthy, and engaging environment for everyone. We will continue to listen, support, and partner with you to help our students have a successful year. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, building counselor, or building administration with any questions or concerns.

Additionally, please make sure we have your current email address and the best phone numbers to reach you. You can update your information in Synergy or by contacting your school’s office.

Sincerely,

Amy L. Chorley
