Notifications to Parents Re: COVID-19 Updates 3-20-2020

As mentioned in Superintendent Brown’s Blog shared with parents earlier today, here are some updates for you regarding the state-mandated closure:

  • We anticipate that the hard copy supplemental and suggested curriculum materials will be available at all of our food distribution sites beginning on Monday. There are materials for each grade level K - 8. For those who cannot make it to one of the distribution sites, you may pick up your students’ grade level packets at the Cardinal Center at any time. Packets will be located in a plastic tub outside the administration office door under the canopy.   • With the help of our teachers, we continue to update our list of resources for parents to use at home with their students. You can access the information on our website or here: https://www.davisonschools.org/cms/lib/MI02211530/Centricity/Domain/8/resourcelettermarch19.pdf

  • Beginning next week, please expect to hear from your child’s teacher(s) in regard to suggestions on how students can stay engaged in their learning. The District has asked our phenomenal staff to touch base and be available for students and parents for at least one hour twice a week. Teachers will be communicating those plans to parents beginning next week if they have not already done so.

  • We are following the Michigan Department of Education’s guidance and will be offering supplemental learning opportunities ONLY for our students. The Department of Education has reminded school districts that there is no mechanism to earn instructional time during a period of mandated school closure. While we encourage students and parents to participate in activities and seek additional learning opportunities, any suggestions from teachers are merely that - suggestions. All items that are provided by the district are voluntary and optional; there will be no grading or required assignments.

    Please note that no communication from our teachers will be required during spring break, March 30-April 3 as this was scheduled as non-work time.
